Understand the campaign before the battle
Henry V’s army had marched from Harfleur for seventeen days before the engagement near Azincourt. In The Footsteps Tours, we place that movement in the context of fatigue, weather and the pressure to continue towards Calais. Our historian explains the opposing forces and the choices made before fighting began, using the landscape to connect the campaign narrative with the ground on which the armies prepared and advanced. Marching imposed constraints.
Trace the battlefield and remember the dead
We visit the Centre Historique Medieval Agincourt, Maisoncelle, the Agincourt Memorial and the English deployment area, including the central road associated with the placement of archers. In The Footsteps Tours, we also include the mass grave identified in the draft itinerary. The day combines interpretation of the fighting with places connected to preparation, movement and loss, before the return journey through Calais and Folkestone to London. We acknowledge the cost.
